All Sorts of Sports

Participants will work to increase their gross motor skills, learn game rules, and appropriate peer interactions through popular playground games and sports such as Red Light Green Light, Red Rover, Simon Says. The program is designed to meet the needs of children with Sensory Processing Disorders, coping with overstimulation, under-stimulation and hyperactivity. Visuals such as picture icons or Boardmaker will be used during this program to help prompt participation and reach their full potential. (8 weeks)

Assisted Horseback Riding

This new and exciting program will introduce participants to horses, the basics of horseback riding, and the benefits of riding. A 1:1 staff ratio will be provided. Horseback riding gently and rhythmically moves the rider’s body in a manner similar to a human gait. Riders with physical disabilities often show improvement in flexibility, balance and muscle strength. The unique relationship formed with the horse can lead to increased confidence, patience and self-esteem. Please note this is not a therapeutic riding program, but the benefits received from the program are therapeutic in nature. (6 weeks)

Explore Your Senses

Through fun interactive games and activities this program will stimulate all of your child’s senses and improve concentration, social skills, and cooperation. The program is designed to meet the needs of children with Sensory Processing Disorders, coping with over-stimulation, under-stimulation and hyperactivity. Visuals such as picture icons or Boardmaker will be used during this program to help prompt participation and reach their full potential.

Sensory and Movement

Participants will work on basic skills such as hopping, jumping, and other gross motor activities. The use of hoops, balls, mini trampolines, tumbling mats and other equipment will help to stimulate different senses through movement. The goal of this program is to improve basic motor skills, develop hand/eye coordination, follow directions and improve social interactions. (8 weeks)

Sensory Art

Calling all young Picassos! During this program you will explore all five senses through art by using various mediums such as sand, shaving cream, finger paints, nature and more! Please come dressed in clothing that you don’t mind getting messy. You can bring an old button down shirt to leave each week to use as a smock. Parents are encouraged to participate in the sensory experience with their child. (8 weeks)

Got the winter blues? Forget all about it and jump in the water at the Vaughan Athletic Center leisure pool where you can zoom down two slides, splash around the obstacle course while socializing with your friends.  The goal of this program is to increase socialization and physical fitness.

Star Search Practice

Looking for a chance to show off your many talents? Bring your singing and dancing skills, comedy routines, and your magic tricks to the Star Search Practices. The practices will help you prepare for the Star Search Talent Show on May 21st.  The goal of this program is to allow everyone to express themselves as individuals as they show off their talents.

Story Time and Puppet Making

Help your child discover the magical world of story-telling and puppet making inspired by classic children’s books. A different book will be read each week. A variety of crafts, puppet making, games, and music will be provided to help children explore the characters and adventures of these classic children’s books.
