to Get Your Class Involved in FVSRA’s Leisure Education Program

Complete and return the Leisure Education Request Form. You can fax it to (630) 907-1116 OR mail to
2121 W Indian Trail, Aurora, IL 60506

The School Services Coordinator will fax your confirmation of you request form’s arrival along with the CTRS assigned to your class contact info and waivers for students and staff to complete.

Schedule your “Meet & Greet” The CTRS assigned to your classroom will contact you within 1 week to schedule the “Meet & Greet.”

Return completed student and staff waivers to the School Services Coordinator.You can fax it to (630) 907-1116 OR mail to 2121 W Indian Trail, Aurora, IL 60506

 Complete and return the Leisure Education Program Evaluation to your CTRS.

Leisure Education opportunities are offered to special education classrooms throughout FVSRA’s seven member communities, as well as classrooms through the Mid-Valley Special Education Cooperative and Kendall County Cooperative.

Leisure Education is an exploration of one’s beliefs and attitudes toward leisure and the development of the skills needed for an active, healthy, and independent leisure lifestyle. The overall goals of the program are to: Assist students in their understanding of what leisure is and the importance of making recreation a part of their lifestyle; Expose students to a wide range of leisure experiences and skills; Develop and practice the skills needed for a healthy and successful leisure lifestyle.

Through the Leisure Education Program, students will experience: Increased self-confidence; and Heightened awareness of themselves and their likes and dislikes.

Hands on activities enabling students to practice life skills that go beyond the leisure and recreation setting, assisting with all stages of independence.

The Leisure Education Program is staffed by Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists (CTRS) and Therapeutic Recreation Specialists who use activities both in the classroom and community to assist students in the development of the skills they will need for a successful and independent leisure lifestyle.
