STARS (Structured Therapeutic Adult Recreation Services) is a Community Day Services program collaboration with the Association for Individual Development. STARS focuses on active community integration, volunteer work and fitness activities for participants. Supporting almost 75 people per day in three locations, STARS is on the go every day, with participants engaging in activities like bowling, shopping, swimming, taking walks at parks and in community centers, learning cooking skills, and enjoying music classes. FVSRA Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists curate a curriculum under the AID staff execution to meet the individual goals of each participant.
All programs operate Monday – Friday from 9:00am-2:30pm.

Here is a video showing how much can be accomplished through the hearts (and shoes) of volunteers! The STARS participants increased their physical fitness, made new friends, and challenged themselves to compete in a Progressive Marathon. Dick Pond (St Charles location) Manager, Glen Kamps, was instrumental in securing running buddies, new running shoes, and providing all the motivation necessary! The participants completed 25 miles at their own pace, and then completed the final 1.2 miles at the Fox Valley Marathon.
