Introducing FVSRA’s Winter/Spring Interns: Michelle and Maya

This winter and spring, we are excited to welcome two interns to our team, Michelle and Maya! Both students from Aurora University bring passion and enthusiasm to the field of inclusive recreation, and we are thrilled to have them on board.

Michelle, a Therapeutic Recreation student, has loved getting to know FVSRA’s participants and working alongside our dedicated staff. Her favorite part of the internship so far has been the connections she’s made, and she is eager to take on more responsibility in planning and facilitating programs. Outside of FVSRA, Michelle also works as a behavioral health technician at RUSH Kids Pediatric Therapy, furthering her commitment to helping individuals thrive. And if you ever need a great meal suggestion—ask Michelle! She’ll tell you pasta is the way to go.

Maya, a Therapeutic Recreation and Psychology student, brings warmth and creativity to her role at FVSRA. She has especially enjoyed the welcoming and supportive environment, finding joy in working with both participants and staff. Maya aspires to be a music therapist and hopes to use music as a tool for healing and empowerment in the future. She is excited to contribute positive energy and safe spaces for participants throughout her internship. A fun fact? If she could travel anywhere, she’d visit Singapore to experience her mom’s favorite places and childhood memories.

We are excited to have Michelle and Maya with us through May and can’t wait to see the impact they will continue to make. If you see them at a program or event, be sure to say hello and welcome them to the FVSRA family!
